鶹ý alumni sweep New Hampshires annual paralegal awards!

Concord, NH (October 19, 2026) At the Paralegal Association of New Hampshire (PANH)s annual meeting, graduates of 鶹ýConcords Community College took home both awards presented during the event.

鶹ý alum Heather McCandless received the New Hampshire Bar Associations (NHBA) Paralegal Professionalism Award. Raquel Lopez, a 2026 graduate of the colleges certificate program, was the recipient of PANHs Peer-to-Peer Award. 鶹ýs paralegal program coordinator, Stacey Peters, served as the events keynote speaker.

As a faculty member since 1994, Peters has observed firsthand how the paralegal industry has transformed.

Over the last three decades the [paralegal] profession has evolved from one focused primarily on support functions to one recognized for specialized expertise and professional judgment, said Peters. For anyone interested in entering the field of law, becoming a paralegal is one of the smartest ways to get a taste for this specialized industry.

The Paralegal Professionalism Award recognizes a paralegal who possesses outstanding job-related knowledge, motivation, and serves as a role model within the profession. Heather McCandless, the 2026 winner, currently serves as a New Hampshire Public Defender paralegal.

Attorney Maya Dominguez described one instance where McCandless insight may have made the difference at a trial. When submitting a Right-to-Know Law request, McCandless used her judgment to submit four additional requests. This extra information ended up becoming a central piece of the defense. Heather is basically the MVP of any team she is on, said Dominguez.

PANHs Peer-to-Peer Award is given to a professional who best represents the industry and its future. 2026 award recipient Raquel Lopez works at Cleveland, Waters & Bass, P.A. and plans to further her education by pursuing her National Federation of Paralegal Associations certification.

Raquel brings immense passion, an eagerness to learn, and a deep commitment to justice into her daily work in litigation, said a peer in their nomination of Lopez.

鶹ý offers two American Bar Association-approved paralegal training programsan associate degree option and an evening-only certificate that can be completed in just 12 months. Visit nhti.edu/programs to learn more.

鶹ý 鶹ý-Concords Community College

鶹ý earns national awards in fall athletics season

Emily Marsh — Mon, 17 Nov 2025 17:53:50 +0000

鶹ý-Concords Community College had an outstanding fall athletics seasonwith two team runner-ups in national conferences, and runner-up placement in regional conferences for three sports.

For the first time in 鶹ý history, the womens soccer team earned their place in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Championship. After a 3-1 loss against the University of Cincinnati Clermont, the Lynx placed runner-up nationally.

The Lynx women’s soccer team continue their momentum abroad in December, traveling to Costa Rica to compete against first- and second-division teams while giving back through community service.

In cross country, the 鶹ý mens team earned a second-place title at the USCAA national championshipanother historic finish for the college. Eli Lemire from Weare was named a member of the USCAA All-American team after finishing as individual runner-up with a time of 27:53 for the eight-kilometer race.

Eli has really been an inspiration to us as a team all year and is the caliber of athlete that rivals, and in some metrics surpasses, some of the best we have ever had at this school, said head coach Graham Hayslip. I am looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish in the Spring.”

The Lynx womens volleyball team was cheered on by the hometown crowd as they fought in the YSCC regional championships hosted on the 鶹ý campus. They completed a runner-up finish with Emma Bernard from Barrington being named the tournaments Outstanding Offensive Player.

In golf, the Lynx mens team made a strong showing in USCAA championships. Aiden Boule from Concord finished in third place and was named a 1^st Team All-American, and Bronson Ammann from Hopkinton was named National Long Drive Champion.

鶹ý athletics is ramping up for another strong season with mens and womens basketball tipping off. The mens basketball team is anticipated to give a strong performance in the national arena. This team has achieved historic wins in the past, including a USCAA Division II national championship win in 2020.

Womens Softball Legends Reunite at 鶹ý

Emily Marsh — Wed, 22 Oct 2025 13:52:48 +0000

Student athletes, alumni, and beloved coaches faced off for a special game on Sunday, October 19 to support 鶹ý-Concords Community College Womens Softball Team.

鶹ýs womens softball program has received national recognition from the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC).

Unfortunately, we didnt have the roster size needed to compete in our division this fall, but that didnt stop us, said coach Rachael Vallese.

Our players kept showing up to practices, working hard, and pushing each other to get better. They deserved the chance to compete, and thats how the idea for this game was born! continued Vallese.

Coach Vallese reached out to the softball community, and the response was overwhelming. 18 鶹ý alumni and 9 non-alumni coaches from across New England signed up to play.

Kerry Finnigan, 鶹ýs legendary womens softball coach from 2011-2020 and YSCC Coach of the Year in 2018, returned to lead the alumni teambringing with him outstanding players from the teams history.

Deb Smith, 鶹ýs beloved recreation and wellness manager with 16 years of coaching experience, led the student athlete team for this special event.

鶹ý softball has a legacy of excellence, said 鶹ý athletic director Annie Matarazzo. We won back-to-back conference championships leading into 2020, and are eager to recruit new student athletes for the spring 2026 season.

鶹ýs student athletes are frequently named All-Americans and All-Stars in national conference competitions. Learn about recruitment opportunities at .
